Lake rules, tackle and bait guidance, what to bring, travel information and answers to common questions — everything you need before you enquire.
Fish care rules
To keep our lakes pristine and our fish healthy, these rules apply on both venues at all times.
Bait & setup
- No outside bait on either lake. No particle bait. Lodge Lakes bait must be used.
- Pop-ups and plastic hook baits may be brought.
- Hooks must be barbed, size 2, 4 or 6. No treble hooks.
- Lead system must be MCF slipper or dumper system only (available on site). No other lead clips, fixed leads, lead core or shock leaders.
- Mainline minimum 0.30mm / 15lb (nylon or fluorocarbon). Coated braid hooklinks recommended.
Fish care
- Maximum 3 rods per angler. Unattended rods are not permitted.
- Landing nets minimum 42 inches. Weigh slings suitable for big carp required in swim.
- Carp cradles and weigh slings are supplied — cradles must be used at all times.
- Prepare sling (wet), mat, scales and camera before lifting fish. No sacking. Do not stand holding fish.
- Do not move fish between swims. Carry fish only in a proper sling or bag.
Lake & site
- Bait boats and rowing boat permitted.
- No litter of any kind — including line, hooks and cigarette ends.
- No fires.
- Rules apply on both lakes. The venue reserves the right to terminate your holiday if rules are not followed.
Please ensure every member of your group reads these rules. The venue reserves the right to terminate a holiday if rules are not followed. Using unauthorised bait may result in the whole group being asked to leave with no refund.

- Valid passport or ID for travel to France.
- Carp fishing tackle, unhooking mat accessories and camera if you wish to record catches.
- Bedchair, sleeping bag and bivvy equipment for your swims.
- Sun cream, insect repellent and suitable clothing for variable weather.
- Food and drinks for your stay — self-catering accommodation is provided.
Travel information
Fly to Limoges
Limoges Airport is around 20 minutes from the lakes. Lodge Lakes offers a free pick-up and drop-off from Limoges Airport. Hire cars are available at the airport.
Drive from the UK
Approximately 6–7 hours from Calais, or around 10 hours door-to-door from southern England. Typical driving costs £450–£700 return per car including fuel, ferry and tolls.

Travel
What is the best way to get to Lodge Lakes?
Flying to Limoges is the easiest option — Ryanair and other airlines serve the airport, around 20 minutes from the lakes. Lodge Lakes offers a free pick-up and drop-off from Limoges Airport. Driving from the UK takes roughly 10 hours from southern England (6–7 hours from Calais).
How much does travelling cost?
Driving typically costs £450–£700 return per car (petrol, ferry/train and tolls). Flights are often £70–£250 depending on season and luggage.
Do you provide airport transfers?
Yes — free pick-up and drop-off from Limoges Airport only. Hire cars are available at the airport if you prefer.
How close is the nearest town?
From the Lodge Lake it is a 10-minute drive to Nantiat or 15 minutes to Bellac. From the Cabin Lake you can walk to Nantiat (500m) for a supermarket, bakers, bar, restaurant, pharmacy and banks.
Availability
Do we have the lake to ourselves?
Yes. The lake and on-site accommodation are 100% exclusive to your party for the week.
What time can we arrive?
Arrival from 1pm Friday, departing 9am the following Friday.
Can we book online?
No. This website shows availability and accepts enquiries only. Lodge Lakes confirms every week personally.
Fishing
Can we bring our own bait?
No outside bait or particle is permitted. Lodge Lakes bait is available on site for fish health. Pop-ups and plastic hookbaits may be brought.
Is there a rowing boat?
Yes — a rowing boat is available to place bait and rigs.
Can I use a bait boat?
Yes — bait boats are allowed on both lakes.
Do I need a rod licence?
No — private lakes with 24-hour fishing.
Are there nuisance fish?
No nuisance fish and no poisson chat.
How many rods can we use?
Maximum three rods per angler. Unattended rods are not permitted. Landing nets minimum 42 inches; cradles and weigh slings are supplied.
Accommodation
Are towels and bedding supplied?
You can bring your own or hire bedding for €5 per bed and towels for €5 per person.
Is there a BBQ?
Yes — BBQ facilities at both the Lodge Lake and Cabin Lake.
Is there a swimming pool?
The Cabin Lake has an above-ground pool, typically open from mid-May to September. The Lodge Lake also has an above-ground pool.
Is WiFi available?
Yes — €30 per week for all devices at both lakes.
